Barker Delights In Derby Win

Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker was a happy man after his team’s 3-0 Cape derby victory in the DStv Premiership over Cape Town City.

A goal from Alan Robertson gave Stellies a first half lead before a brace from Judas Moseamedi wrapped up the result.

Barker’s team are currently third on the table after the weekend’s results, and the coach was pleased with his how charges applied themselves.

“Ja, obviously delighted for the club, for the players, a massive win for us against our derby rivals,” Barker said after the game.

“I just thought that once again, each and every player stood up and was counted, we had a game plan that we wanted to execute, I thought we done that really well.

“So from a tactical, discipline, tactical awareness, I thought our players really stuck to the game plan for a change. We were ruthless, we took our chances, which then obviously, at the end, killed the game off.

“But ja, we had to work hard for the victory. Defensive structure was really solid, and we look dangerous every time on transition, we knew that on transition they would be out of shape and out of position so we did cause them problems like that. So all in all really pleased.”
