Baxter Explains Why Dolly Didn’t Play
Stuart Baxter has explained that Keagan Dolly was not fit enough to play against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup.
Dolly arrived as marquee signing at Naturena last week and many fans were excited to see him play in Sunday’s match.
However, Baxter has told media that Dolly still needs to work on his fitness and lose some weight before he will be able to help the team.
“Well I be honest, we’re taking Keagan and we’re taking Keagan in a situation where he hasn’t played in a quite while,” the coach said.
“He’s had a period of inactivity that means he’s put on some weight and that weight has got to go.
“In the meantime, while he is doing that, he’s going to learn how we play. Keagan will be a better way, but if the players are playing like that, they are putting their hand up to say well Keagan when you are fit you have to throw your hat in the ring for a place.
“So Keagan is going to take a while, but I like Keagan Dolly as a player and when he is fit, he will give us another dimension.”
Dolly and Chiefs still have two more weeks of pre-season before Amakhosi will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-final.
