Baxter Makes Dube Claim

Stuart Baxter believes that Austin Dube will become a good player for Kaizer Chiefs after the defender made his starting XI debut for Amakhosi.

Dube joined the club from Richards Bay but had to wait until match day three before making his starting XI debut under Baxter.

The coach opted to play a back-three, with Dube being used as the left-sided centre-back and Baxter believes he will become an integral player to his side, even he had a tough starting XI debut against Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I think he did well in patches,” he told reporters.

“Austin is going to be a good player. At times he showed that he is going to be a decent player for us.

“It was a tough one for him. He will have to reflect on it and improve, same as everybody else.

“I think Austin is a good lad, a good professional and he will improve.”

Dube featured in all Bafana Bafana games during the recent Cosafa Cup triumph, leading many fans to ask for his regular inclusion in Chiefs’ starting XI.
