Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter says he is hopeful that a few new Amakhosi signings can take part in the Carling Black Label Cup on Sunday.
The Glamour Boys have signed nine players this window already, namely: Keagan Dolly, Cole Alexander, Brandon Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti, Phathutshedzo Nange, Njabulo Ngcobo, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Kgaogelo Sekgota and Austin Dube.
However, none of the club’s new arrivals had enough time with the club to collect enough votes to appear in Chiefs’ starting XI for Sunday’s Soweto derby.
Baxter has now given an update on whether a few signings will at least appear on the bench, but didn’t give fans much hope.
“We are monitoring all of our players and their fitness levels very, very carefully, especially the lads that are coming from COSAFA, that come off the Olympics or that come off a couple of months break,” Baxter told the media regarding their new signings.
“It is a difficult time to get everyone at the right level. So we won’t be taking any chances, but we are very hopeful that we will have a few of them (new players) on the field.”
