Baxter – Why Ngcobo & Dube Had To Bide Their Time

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter rated the performances of new signings Austin Dube and Njabulo Ngcobo who didn’t start games for Amakhosi at the beginning of the season.

Both players weren’t selected by Baxter in the first few games of the season, but have now started the last two matches for the Glamour Boys.

Baxter explained after the match once again why Dube and Ngcobo needed time before becoming real options for his starting XI.

“I think Njabulo and Austin definitely had to wait because they weren’t ready,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about the duo’s performance.

“That was the simple fact, they weren’t ready. They didn’t understand fully how we want to play, they didn’t understand their role or the bigger picture.

“Therefore they did have to wait and it wasn’t without a few hiccups in the beginning.

“I’m pleased with their performance tonight, I think both of them and I’d say what I said to them in the dressing room ‘it’s getting better and better as we go along’.

“And I think that’s what we also saw tonight, they got better and better, so I’m pleased with that, I’m pleased with that progress and hopefully it will continue.”

Chiefs next face SuperSport United away from home, on Sunday, 24 October.
