Benni Reveals His Hopes For Broos’ Bafana
AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy, who himself was heavily linked with the Bafana Bafana job, has revealed what he hopes Hugo Broos can do for the national team.
McCarthy says that Broos, a four-time Belgian Coach of the Year, and who won the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon four years ago, brings a lot of experience.
The former Bafana striker was speaking in an interview on East Coast Radio says that as a fan he hopes that Broos can bring back that winning feeling, as everyone wants to see the national team doing better.
“As a fan, I’m optimistic and I hope that the CV that he possesses, and where he’s been, the quality that you’re going to get from these coaches that comes from abroad, hopefully he can sprinkle some magic over Bafana,” McCarthy told Carol Ofori on East Coast Radio.
“And hopefully we’ll be able to enjoy playing in the big tournaments and seeing our boys, playing at the highest level against the best players in the best countries in the world.
“That’s what we all hope for. So I’m I’m hopeful that this coach can bring a lot of success back to the nation, and brings a lot of smiles back to people’s faces, because at the moment Bafana isn’t really producing the goods and they’re not bringing that happy factor, that happy feeling back to fans.
“And hopefully the experience of the new coach will add to that and ja, he can bring something special, and bring that excitement back. And the love that people have for their country, for their national team. And we can have that feeling back again.
“So ja, so I am hopeful and wishing him all the very best, and I hope that he can succeed because if he does well, every living South African will be able to enjoy because we’ll see our team back where they should be.”
