Richards Bay FC chairman Jomo Biyela has insisted he is still planning with head coach Brandon Truter despite his angry reaction towards the coach after the final whistle of their Carling Knockout Cup exit.
The Natal Rich Boyz have been struggling this season after scoring only two goals in 10 games across all competitions. The KwaZulu-Natal side were also knocked out of the Carling Knockout Cup by newly-promoted side Magesi FC.
After the final whistle against Magesi, Biyela was spotted next to the bench, showing his unhappiness remonstrating with his hands. Biyela quickly clarified that it was in the heat of the moment, but he insisted that rumors that Truter would be fired are not true.
“Football is an emotional sport, you react in whatever way that you react at that particular moment [but] there’s no bad blood between myself and the coach,” Biyela told journalists.
“As we’re speaking here he is training the team today in Richards Bay, he is still part of the team.
“I’ve seen all what you guys saying about him being fired, I can tell you that he is still part of the team.
“We will try and find ways of improving in areas where we feel we are not doing right but we are not in a business of chopping and changing.“
There have been new ambitions at Richards bay after they closed a deal with the Phakwe Group which splashes R60 million into their budget over a three-year deal. The new sponsorship lead to the early departure of Vusimuzi Vilakazi, who had saved the club from relegation last season.
