Bolivian Club Bid Farewell To Downs Target

Bolivan club Bolivar have bid farewell to Bolivia international Erwin Saavedra, who is understood to be close to joining Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 25-year-old midfielder leaves his boyhood club after coming through the clubs youth ranks and making his first-team debut in 2014.

Saavedra is set to complete a R18.5 million move to Masandawana and his club bid farewell to their player on Friday morning.

“After almost 300 games and more than 50 goals with the light blue, today we say goodbye to Erwin Saavedra. Together we live immense joys and great moments,” they said in a statement on social media.

“We wish you the best of success in this new stage, Erwin. Thank you for everything!

Bolivar will always be your home.”

Saavedra is believed to sign a three-year contract with Downs, who have an option to extend it by another 18 months.

The attacking midfielder wrote headlines at last year’s Copa America, where he scored the only two goals of his country.
