Chibwe – We Will Fight For Three Points
Zambia national football team and Baroka FC goalkeeper Cyril Chibwe says the upcoming fixture against Equatorial Guinea in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers is a must win.
Chibwe was between the poles in their 2-0 loss against Tunisia, as well as their 2-1 win over Mauritania last month.
Zambia are second in Group B, having equal points with Equatorial Guinea after they played two games, and they play each other this coming Thursday.
“With the national team these two games are very important because we are number two with three points and number one have six points,” Chibwe told iDiski Times.
“We just need to collect as many points as we can. We are going to do our best to get results, if it means we must die on the pitch, then be it.”
Despite being a national team first choice goalkeeper, the 28-year-old hasn’t featured in any game at Baroka since he joined in July.
However, Chibwe insists that he will work hard to get a game time at his club.
“You know coming to Baroka I knew that there are two top keepers in Oscarine (Masuluke) and (Elvis) Chipezeze, so all I need to do is to keep working, my time will come all that matters now is they all doing well, the is well we all good,” he added.
“So honestly it doesn’t mean if I’m the national team number one means I must play, and again I’m new at baroka, so I just need to continue working hard the time will come, and yes I’m playing at national team just waiting for my time at my club.”
The Rusternburg-born keeper, departed South Africa earlier in the week to join the rest of the team in Cameroon for the preparations.
