Chiefs Frustrated At Home By Horoya

Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 Horoya AC

Kaizer Chiefs was held to a goalless draw by Horoya AC in the CAF Champions League at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Chiefs dominated possession in the first half, as they looked for a way through the Horoya defence.

But chances in the final third were rare, and Horoya almost took the lead against the run of play in the 31st minute when Enoch Agyei raced clear, but his attempted lob over an advancing Itumeleng Khune went wide.

Samir Nurkovic thought he had scored in the 48rd minute, but was caught offside when he put the ball in the back of the net. Five minutes later he was off-side again as he headed in.

Moussa Camara pulled off a big save in the 86th minute to deny Njabulo Blom as Chiefs pushed for a late goal.

But the Guineans frustrated Chiefs, and almost snuck a win if not for a good save by Khune in the 90th minute.

Manyama came close in stoppage time, but his free kick was well saved by Camara, as Horoya held out for a point.

It was a third successive home goalless draw in the CAFCL for Chiefs, who will hope that their away form from the qualification rounds continues in the group stages.

Also in Group C Wydad Casablanca picked up a win on the road. They beat Petro de Luanda 1-0 in Angola, to go top of the group.

Meanwhile in Group A Pitso Mosimane and defending champions Al Ahly suffered defeat in Tanzania, as they lost 1-0 to Simba. Mozambican Luis Miquissone, who had brief spells at Mamelodi Sundowns, Chippa United and Royal Eagles, scored the goal.
