Kaizer Chiefs talks to sign Siyethemba Sithebe have broken down and the AmaZulu player will not join Amakhosi this window, according to his representative.
Usuthu president Sandile Zungu addressed the situation at large during the unveiling of the club’s new signings Abbubaker Mobara and Abraham Mojak on Thursday, accusing Chiefs of improper conduct and insisted the player will not feature for the club again.
According to reports in local media, there were talks between Chiefs and AmaZulu over the weekend to still find an agreement but those are now off.
His intermediary Sihlangu Sithebe, who is also the attacking midfielder’s uncle, has explained that both sides were not able to agree on a deal.
“There were negotiations between the clubs, but these are now closed as they could not agree on terms,” he told TimesLIVE.
“Chiefs were offering two players in exchange for Siyethemba, but AmaZulu were only interested in a cash deal. So he remains a part of the AmaZulu squad for the rest of the season and as things stand will not be joining Chiefs at this time.”
Sithebe’s agent also refuted claims from Zungu that Chiefs had contacted before the January window opened already.
“There may have been other people talking to the player, but any official negotiations or offer has to come through me and I did not receive any before the window opened,” he added.
“If Zungu indicated that Siyethemba had finalised with other clubs [before January] that cannot be correct, because the only person who can conclude that contract is me.”
The player will now remain with AmaZulu until the end of the season when his contract expires and he’ll join the Glamour Boys as a free agent.
