Coetzee – Beating Chiefs To Title Most Special

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee has reflected on his achievements with Masandawana saying the title when Downs had to overtake Kaizer Chiefs on the final day of the season was most special to him.

Coetzee joined the club back from Ajax Cape Town in 2017 and has developed a habit of winning trophies every time he gets a chance to.

The 25-year-old midfielder has won League titles four times consecutively, the Nedbank Cup, Telkom Knockout Cup and the MTN8 trophy, which had taken the club 14 years to clinch it.

However, he has now revealed he cherishes the title achieved in the bio-bubble the most.

“I think the league has been the most special,” he told club’s media department.

“I have won the league every year since I have joined, but I think the one in the bio-bubble where we came from behind to catch up to Chiefs [was the most special].”

Coetzee also revealed that he has no special plans for the current PSL break, saying he is just focussing on his preparations for the second half of the campaign.

“[Currently] I have no special plans and won’t be traveling for this break. I will be staying at home recovering and trying my best to stay COVID-19 free for the break.

“I just want to come back stronger for the 2nd half of the season.”
