Rivaldo Coetzee was delighted to score his first goal for Mamelodi Sundowns, when they beat Tshakhuma 3-1 in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday.
Coetzee scored with a header to equalise with TTM just before halftime, from a Gaston Sirino corner, and it was just his second ever goal in professional football, having scored once for Ajax Cape Town.
Sundowns moved six points clear at the top of log, with two games still in hand over their nearest rivals.
“Ja, the first one for the club,” Coetzee told the Sundowns media department.
“Not the most spectacular, but it was a good goal that got us back into the game.”
“You know, we practice set pieces a lot, then you can see, it’s working for us.”
Coetzee says while it was frustrating for TTM to score first, they were always confident they’d get back in the game.
“It’s just to improve, it does put it down a little bit but then again, you know, with the quality we have in the team, we know that we will always create chances until the end of the game.”
“It was just a matter of believing and then also being patient on the wall because they were closing the inside so we had more space on the outside without fullbacks going high up, and I think that that worked for us.”
