Orlando Pirates secured a 1-0 win after a late howler from Sekhukhune United to keep their top-three hopes alive in the DStv Premiership.

The game looked to be heading for a dull goalless draw with only one shot on target registered as the 80th minute approached but a costly error from Ayanda Dlamini was the difference.

The Sekhukhune keeper, who was making only his second start of the season, fumbled an attempted goal kick before hitting the ball straight to the Pirates attack.

Fortune Makaringe was at hand to punish the error in the 82nd minute which proved one of only two shots on target in the entire league fixture at Ellis Park.

With five games without a win now for the hosts, they dropped to 10th in the table while the fifth-placed Buccaneers are now just five points off second-placed Royal AM.

Sekhukhune United XI: Dlamini, Mahlangu, Kabwe, Mbonani, Gyimah, Maart, Leepile, Kobela, Sithole, Mncube, Shonga

Orlando Pirates XI: Ofori, Jele, Nyauza, Shandu, Mako, Monare, Mosele, Ndlovu, Dlamini, Hotto, Peprah.
