Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach Gavin Hunt was pleased to beat Petro De Lunda in the CAF Champions League on Saturday, and it was an important win for the club.
Chiefs beat Petro 2-0 on Saturday at the FNB Stadium, their first win in the group stages.
Hunt admits that at times he was concerned that the result might not come, as while they were playing well, they were not getting rewarded.
Erick Mathoho and Happy Mashiane scored the goals that saw Chiefs move onto 4 points in the group.
“I thought we were good. I thought a little bit frustrating at times, because, you know, I didn’t think, you know, we got rewarded for some good play. But, you know, the most important thing was to obviously try and win the game that was important,” Hunt said in the post match presser.
“The turning points is obviously, you know, to score. And I think even though last week, you know, the score line was 4-0 we still had some good opportunities last week, which we didn’t take, and when we played Horoya here before that, and we all saw what happened there.”
“So it looked like another night when it wasn’t going to come, so I thought at times we were good, it was a difficult pitch, balls coming off the pitch very quickly, so it was certainly not conducive to that, not used to that condition.”
“But all in all it was good display, we played a lot of people, that haven’t played much, so they did okay.”
Chiefs now switch focus to the DStv Premiership as they travel to take on Maritzburg United on Wednesday.
