Hunt: Simba Are The Favourites
Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has given his side the underdog tag in their CAF Champions League clash, saying the visitors are under more pressure.
The Glamour Boys host Tanzanian giants Simba S.C. at the FNB Stadium on Saturday after qualifying for the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League for a first time.
The hosts enter the game on a horrible domestic run, having won just two of their last 15 DStv Premiership games.
Hunt, though, insists that Saturday’s match will not ‘make or break’ his side’s campaign.
“If we make it like this game tomorrow is like ‘make or break’ I think you’ve got the wrong attitude,” he explained.
“I think sometimes, not to be carefree, you need to be organised in the way you play, but you also need to forget about the pressure.
“We haven’t had a very good derby-season this season but then we played the last derby much better, nothing to lose. Played well. Sometimes it’s better to play football like that.
“I think sometimes we put too much pressure on situations. Look around the world, all the top teams sometimes have bad times. It’s about how you come out of it.
“They are under more pressure. Are we under more pressure tomorrow, I don’t know. They are the favourites, aren’t they? They are much more experienced in this type of situation, so let’s see.”
The Amakhosi coach also expressed his frustration with Chiefs fixture congestion saying all other CAFCL quarter-finalists had more time to rest.
“We haven’t had much time to prepare,” he added.
“We played two days ago. All other quarter-final teams didn’t play two games ago, which is a bit strange. But it is what it is.”
