Khune Sends Downs A Warning
Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has sent a warning to Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of their clash on Sunday.
The two sides meet in the DStv Premiership on Sunday and Khune says that the Amakhosi players are ready to represent the team as they go to look for their second victory this season.
Coach Stuart Baxter had put it on record that Khune will be his captain and first choice goalkeeper this season, but the 34-year-old did not feature in the first two league games.
He was on the bench as a substitute during the game against Baroka FC at the FNB Stadium before the FIFA international break and not in the squad in the goalless draw against TS Galaxy in their season opener.
Khune, though, seems confident his side can get a result against Masandawana on Sunday.
“Loftus is our happy hunting ground. We play well there, we play a good brand of football and we get positive results too,” Khune he told the club’s media department.
“So, it won’t be any different this coming weekend. It will be a great match between the two sides. We know what happens when we meet, it’s two bulls and as always, we want to come out victorious.
“The coach has a plan, as players we just have to go out there and execute it and get a positive result out of the game.”
Chiefs did beat Downs away from home last season, which was the champions’ only defeat, and Amakhosi are unbeaten in their last four away games against Downs.
Sunday’s match will kick off at 17:00 at Loftus Versfeld.
