Maritzburg Pick Up First Win
Maritzburg United picked up a 1-0 away win against Baroka, while Sekhukhune United drew 1-1 with Stellenbosch in the two late DStv Premiership games on Saturday.
Baroka lost 1-0 to Maritzburg United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening, with both teams having a player sent off.
Richard Zumah made it 1-0 to the visitors in the 13th minute as he raced onto a pass from Travis Graham, and rounded the goalkeeper before finishing off.
Maritzburg were reduced to ten men early in the second half when Bafana Bafana hero Bongokuhle Hlongwane picked up a second yellow card.
While Baroka were pushing hard for an equaliser, Maritzburg held on, and things didn’t help Baroka’s cause when Thamsanqa Masiya got sent off in the 84th minute, as both teams ended with ten men.
Meanwhile Sekhukhune United came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Stellenbosch at Emirates Airline Park.
Stellenbosch held a 1-0 first half lead after Argentinean Junior Mendieta put Steve Barker’s team in front in the 8th minute.
But the home team found an equaliser in the 68th minute as Chibuike Ohizu scored his third goal of the season.
