Sekhukhune United coach MacDonald Makhubedu was full of praise and credited his players for a stunning performance against Baroka.
Babina Noko hammered Baroka 4-0 in the DStv Premiership encounter at Ellis Park Stadium on Sunday evening and moved to sixth spot on the table.
Makhubedu believes his technical team was the real driving force behind the spectacular performance from the players, and says they wanted the win more than their opponents.
“They were hungry, remember we went five games without good results, draws, and I’ve said to them that if you play like this one day you will score 3, 4, 5, so we could have scored five,” he told SuperSport TV.
“So I think they wanted it more than Baroka – a Baroka that we know, second half I thought they will come back strong, very fit team, hungry, but we made things difficult for them.
“They thought we were going to defend a lot, too deep like we did in the first round, while we were not going to do that, and we played good football.
“Thanks to my technical team, but I think Justin Shonga and Victor (Ohizu) gave us more runs on the shoulders of the centre-backs, the full-backs were confused whom to mark because we played between the full-backs and the centre-backs, and we left them on the centre area to be alone.
“We played more of windows, we tried to turn them as much as we could, and it worked for us, we wanted to overload the right-hand side, especially because that’s the boy who goes up, a very good boy.”
Sekhukhune will host relegation-threatened Swallows FC at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday, 26 at 17:30.
