Sekhukhune United coach Macdonald Makhubedu says they will not take their Nedbank Cup opponents Platinum City Rovers lightly, and will show them the respect they deserve.
Sekukhune face City Rovers, are in their debut GladAfrica Championship season, having been promoted from the ABC Motsepe Leagues.
The former Acornbush United, TS Sporting, Baroka and Polokwane City coach is no stranger to coaching in the lower leagues, and has vast experience in the GladAfrica and ABC Motsepe Leagues.
“For any PSL team to play against lower league clubs, because they are closed book to us, and we know they know us better. so it’s not gonna be an easy game for us,” Makhubedu told Sekhukhune’s media department.
“But we will prepare the game the same way we will prepare for the PSL games.
“We will give them the respect they deserve. Remember the coach at that team is a seasoned campaigner. But we want to do well in this cup also.”
“When I talk about teams from the NFD, and ABC, I’m talking from experience. I was on the other side, before, I was in the ABC and NFD playing against PSL teams.
“So I know that they will be more, more motivated. And they want to do well and the players also want to showcase their talent. So they will be underdogs.
“But they will come to us being more motivated than anyone else. But we’ll just have to be professional, be calm, and try and win the game at all costs.
“But it is not easy to play against teams from the lower leagues.”
