Tshakhuma Assistant Coach Mpho Maleka says that while things have not gone smoothly in the DStv Premiership league and they are still in a battle there, the technical team appreciates what the players have done to reach the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.
Tshakhuma play Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday at Loftus Stadium, after Sundowns beat Orlando Pirates 4-1 in yesterday’s quarter-final.
TTM have beat three DStv Premiership opponents – SuperSport United, Swallows and Black Leopards – to reach the semi-finals.
The other semi-final pits GladAfrica Championship Pretoria Callies against Chippa United.
Maleka says they are taking the cup seriously, and using it to build momentum for the league. They are currently 14th on the table, just two points ahead of Chippa in the promotion/relegation playoff 15th spot.
Maleka and David Mathebula have been on the bench for the team lately, as the clubs wait for the work permit of Dylan Kerr.
“We appreciate the job well done by the players,” Maleka said about his team qualifying for the semis.
“And for us to be on the semi final is another injection, not forgetting that we still have to fight more to stay in the league.”
“But we using this good platform of doing well in the cup transfer to the league matches of which so far, they’re bearing good results.”
“So we appreciate that from the players and not let down by the fact that we are much focused to stay in the league, of which there are some good results that are coming for us to say we can push both, why not?”
