Mayambela – Both Stand A Chance

Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates midfielder Mark Mayambela says he is anticipating an exciting MTN8 Final when his two former teams meet on Saturday.

Mayambela, who was was a fan favourite at both club in his early professional days, is now on the books of Cape United in the Glad Africa Championship, and has helped his new club top the table after three straight wins to start the season.

The 33 year old says he is looking forward to Saturday’s final and says that while he can’t pick a winner, and both teams stand a chance at lifting the trophy, he can’t help but have a special place in his heart for Celtic, the club that gave him his professional break.

“You know, I think both clubs played a special role in my career,” Mayambela told iDiski Times.

“But for me, Bloemfontein is home. It’s where I started playing, it’s where I got my first professional contract, it’s where I feel I am loved most.”

“I know that in other parts of the country and the world I get support, but you know Bloemfontein is a special place for me.”

“But in this game I think both teams have capabilities enough to take it, I think they both stand a chance to take it, we will see, we will see!”
