With both Barcelona and Juventus already through to the last 16, focus has turned on their star players for their encounter in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
This will be the 37th time Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel face each other, and with speculation about Messi leaving the Catalan club, it could just be the last time the two meet with Messi wearing a Barcelona jersey.
While Ronaldo has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in those previous encounters, Messi has only ever worn the Barca strip.
The Argentinian is expected to return to Champions League action this evening, after having been rested for Barca’s last two European games.
Both players are also targeting winning the Champions League with their respective clubs.
Winning the trophy was a big incentive for Ronaldo’s move to Juventus, as the Italian club have made no bones about wanting to be European champions for the first time since 1996.
Messi and Barcelona lasted lifted the cup in 2015.
