McCarthy – The Rain Made Things Difficult

AmaZulu FC head coach Benni McCarthy was left frustrated after his side’s goalless draw in the KZN Derby, but accepted a point.

Usuthu have now drawn four games consecutively in the DStv Premiership, which saw them occupied eighth spot on the league’s table.

McCarthy, though, didn’t blame his players, saying some players were under performing due to rain at the stadium, but also concerned of his player’s finishing touches.

“Yeah, another draw, what I can say? But the rain, the rain made things a little difficult. Because it kinda slows the game down the way we wanted to play,” McCarthy said after the match.

“It certainly affected the performances of a few players, key players in the team. But nevertheless, so much positive, speed in the manner that we move the ball.

“We restricted them from doing what they’ve been doing to almost every other team in the league, getting in behind teams.

“We speak of (Victor) Letsoalo, (Tebogo) Potsane, they were almost restricted to shooting from far and looking for mistakes that we make, which we didn’t have to make today.

“And I have to compliment the boys for that, so I think we had the most complete game, goalkeeper, defence, midfield.

“I think the biggest problem and the biggest worry and what will be what I can be dying to see from the team just when we get into the final third, just a little of composure, that bit of composure and just the cutting edge and wanting to put the ball in the back of the net.”
