After losing to a stoppage time goal in their DStv Premiership match against Maritzburg United on Wednesday, Marumo Gallants coach Sebastien Migne says football can be a cruel game.
Migne’s French compatriot Amadou Soukouna scored the sucker punch goal in the 92nd, and Migne says losing so late can be tough on the players.
He thought his team put in a good effort, but did not take their opportunities when they fell to them.
“Ai, It’s terrible,” Migne said after the game.
“Football is sometimes cruel.
“So nice, but sometimes cruel, because when you lose in the way, in the extra time, it’s terrible for the player.
“We made a lot of effort. It was not so bad, we had opportunity to kill the game, but it’s exactly what I say to the player, when you have the opportunities in the high level, you need to finalize.
“Otherwise you can concede one moment. I don’t know it was a free kick on the last goal, but the fact is, we lost one nil.
“Disappointed for our players, because we deserve at least one point. I hope we will learn with this defeat, and now the next step is Sunday, we need to recover for our fitness, and it will be another story.”
