Ncikazi – Maybe There Is Still An Opportunity To Get To Position 2
Golden Arrows Head Coach Mandla Ncikazi says it was disappointing not to return to second-place in the DStv Premiership after their draw against Chippa United, but says perhaps they’ll return after this week’s game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ncikazi was disappointed to only get a point from the Chippa game, but says that overall, it was probably a fair result.
“I thought first half, we were very cagey, when we started,” Ncikazi said after the Chippa draw.
Arrows are third on the table, two points behind AmaZulu, and five points behind leaders Sundowns, who Arrows face at at Loftus Stadium on
“I think Chippa had the better chances first half, but I thought we did well secod half, created a few chances, but the keep our keeper kept us in the match two occasions. But again, if you get chances like that, playing away from home, like the ones that we created, take them, it’s going to be very tight, very tight match, maybe the draw was a fair result, based on how both teams fair in the first half and second half.”
“Take the point. And maybe it shows now that we have got a team where we play players, week in week out, other teams have an opportunity to change but we are not. I also felt at some point that maybe our players had taken a toll. But still proud of the troops, they don’t show any cracks. The effort you will never question, still proud of the point, although I would have loved to have all the points.”
Arrows could have returned to second spot had they been victorious, but Ncikazi says that doesn’t faze him.
“Well, if you if you look at the position, it is going to stress you. It will be nice to be there. But it didn’t happen. It is what it is.”
“Maybe there is still an opportunity to get to position two, go to Mamelodi Sundowns and be the first team to steal the points there.”
Ncikazi was of course speaking before knowing that Kaizer Chiefs had beaten Sundowns, so technically they would be the second team now.
