Ncikazi – One Of Us Is Going To Have A Heart Attack

Orlando Pirates co-caretaker coach Mandla Ncikazi has jokingly said one of the technical team might have a heart attack because of all the chances his side are missing.

The Buccaneers and Golden Arrows couldn’t be separated at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they played to a goalless draw in the DStv Premiership.

Ncikazi, though, has insisted that his players have shown efforts with no luck to capitalize on the created chances.

“I’m disappointed that based on the number of chances that we created, it’s two points dropped. It’s a point, but I don’t think Pirates really deserve a point today, I thought we deserved three,” he said after the match.

“But in the game of football, if you don’t put the ball in the net, you’re not going to win matches. And if it takes longer for you to score, the opponents gain confidence. But for the number of chances that we created, especially first half, just take one, take two, then the game will change.

“It’s a process that we have to work on, I just hope that we still encourage the players. It’s the job of the coaches to try to work on such situations.

“But I’m not disappointed with the performance, not disappointed with the effort from the players, I’m just disappointed with the result. And the fact that the ball refuses to touch the net.”

The 52-year-old coach spoke some more on not taking the chances that they create in their games and is hoping to bounce back in the next match.

“One of us is going to have a heart attack very soon, hopefully not, it’s frustrating. But again, as a coach, you must see the light where everybody sees darkness. We have to be there for the players, we have to find solutions of trying to solve this problem,” he added.

“I think we have the capacity to solve it, we must solve it soon. The next match is just here, Stellenbosch not an easy match, but we have to put the ball in the net, even if it means a score is four, a 4-3, but as long as Pirates have scored more than their opponents I think that’s important.”

The Sea Robbers will shift their focus to the next DStv Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday.
