ODG Compares New Signing To Shalulile

TS Galaxy head coach Owen Da Gama says the club’s new signing Marate Ndienguene is going to light up the DStv Premiership. Lethabo Kganyago reports

The 20 year Ndienguene was one of the eight new players unveiled by the club in Kameelrivier on Sunday.

Da Gama says like Peter Shalulile the young Senegalese winger is going to be exceptional.

“You know the chairman referred to him as the likes of Mbappe, I think he is going to be something exceptional, he is going to be exceptional. I have been more than 18 years in the PSL I had players from Surprise Moriri to Koketso Mmotong to the Shalulile’s,” said Da Gama.

“I have been very fortunate to have unearthed and worked with a lot of no name players. I can tell you this boy is going to be something very special, very special.

“At the beginning of last season or two seasons ago when I said Shalulile is the best striker in the country people didn’t believe me and now they are seeing something. So I’m telling you this boy this Marate boy is going to be something special in this league.”

Ndienguene is not new to South Africa, having played for Highlands Park’s youth team that won the Bayhill Tournament a few seasons ago.

Meanwhile the coach says he is excited about the rest of the new players having worked with them for the last couple of weeks. Da Gama also says Galaxy will start the campaign without their player of the season goalkeeper Marlon Heugh who is recovering from an ankle surgery from an injury je picked in training.

“He just had his surgery three four days ago. It’s an ankle surgery it is not as bad as a knee surgery but I think six to eight weeks and then we can take it from there. But he definitely will not be available for the start of the season unless there is a miraculous turn around but I have to be honest I think he won’t be available,” added Da Gama..
