Pirates Confirm Lorch Out For 3-4 Months
Orlando Pirates have confirmed the shock injury news about Thembinkosi Lorch, while also giving updates on Richard Ofori, Zakhele Lepasa and Innocent Maela.
Fadlu Davids had already stated that Lorch would not be able to play again this year when asked by iDiski Times about the player after the Buccaneers’ beat Swallows FC 1-0.
The club have now confirmed the news, stating Lorch picked up a shoulder injury after a “freak accident” at home and needed surgery, which rules him out for three to four months.
“Last week, Coach Fadlu Davids revealed to the media that talisman Thembinkosi Lorch was out for the rest of the year. The news has since been confirmed by the medical department who reveal that the 28-year-old suffered a freak accident while at home which has resulted in Nyoso requiring shoulder surgery. The expected time for recovery of an injury of this nature is between 3-4 months,” Pirates said on their website.
Pirates also confirmed that Ofori will miss the upcoming game against Chippa after picking up an injury on International duty.
“Meanwhile, Pirates can also confirm that Richard Ofori is expected to miss the DStv Premiership clash against Chippa United. The Ghanaian International, who suffered an injury while on international duty for the Black Stars, is still experiencing discomfort and pain on the site of injury,”
Meanwhile, Zakhele Lepasa “continues to undergo rehabilitation for the fracture,” after the 24-year-old striker has been out of action since December last year.
Finally, Innocent Maela is currently “two weeks post a surgery on an adductor longus injury” and the 29-year-old is only “expected to return to full training in 3 months”.
