Seema – We’re Not Gonna Go Down Without A Fight

Ahead of Saturday’s MTN8 semi-final first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns, Golden Arrows head coach Lehlohonolo Seema says there is expectations for both teams.

Seema says that while DStv champions Sundowns will start as favourites, they are not going there to make up numbers, and are ready to compete.

Arrows beat SuperSport United to reach the last four (though lost to the same the opponent in their midweek league game) and Seema says they are looking for success in this cup.

“Look we need to win also this cup that is why we are in it,” Seema said at the pre match press conference.

“And the expectations, yes maybe to other people or maybe Sundowns supporters, but from our supporters the expectations are high also. This is a new season, we are in the semifinals, we cannot just go there and add numbers.

“So the pressure is on both sides I think and whether the spectators are expecting less or more, it’s up to their team but we know that our supporters are expecting us to perform, and obviously the players, like I’ve told them, they know what is at stake.

“And we said look, the only thing that you can make this game more interesting is if we can go there and play our way when we got the ball, so that we play the Golden Arrows way and not go there and now be consumed by the event and by the match.

“For us, we are playing against the champions, they finished position one, we finished position four, so already when you look at the log, how we finished last season, so already they’ve got an edge over us, however we’re not gonna go down without a fight.

“Let’s see come Saturday, it’s a very exciting game, hopefully the weather will be good so that people can watch good football on the day.”
