Shalulile Reveals His Icon
Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile, who was named Player of the Month August/September, has revealed that Samuel Eto’o is his sporting icon.
The 27-year-old is on a hot streak at the moment, having scored eight goals in his last eight games for club and country.
On Wednesday, Shalulile was named DStv Premiership Player of the Month, adding on to his Player of the Season accolade.
In a recent interview with Downs magazine, he revealed that Samuel Eto’o has been his idol and he even met him during the club’s 50th anniversary gala.
“It (my icon) has always been Cameroon’s legend Samuel Eto’o,” he said.
“I met him at the Mamelodi Sundowns 50th anniversary gala dinner where I got the opportunity to interact with him.
“We took pictures that I have framed and those memories will remain with me for life.
“I have always looked up to him because of his exploits during his playing days. He continues to be an inspiration.”
Shalulile will have another chance to shine when his side face Maniema Union in the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
