Shonga Contract Terminated

Former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga has seen his contract terminated at Ismaily after just two months at the Egyptian Premier League side.

The club announced this week that the two parties separated via mutual consent which raised a few eyebrows with conflicting reports surrounding the decision.

While his representatives maintain the player left due to unpaid salary, the club suggested that his poor displays led to the technical team decision stating he wouldn’t get many first-team chances this season.

It marks a severe career plight for the Zambia international forward who was once touted as one of Africa’s brightest prospects during his time at Pirates.

However, since leaving the Soweto giants, the 24-year-old has struggled to find form at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), Cape Town City and the North African side – while being released at all three clubs.

Shonga last scored a goal in a competitive fixture back in November 2020 in a DStv Premiership fixture with TTM.
