Cape Town Spurs have announced the signing of Miguel Dias on loan for the rest of the season.
The former AmaTuks midfielder is currently on the books of Orlando Pirates, having signed at the end of last year to play for the club’s feeder team, Pele Pele FC.
“So, I signed with Orlando Pirates before the year ended last year, but I was signed with them until the end of this season to play a couple of months in the ABC league, because the year before I had come back from a meniscus injury, so I was out for about 4-5 months,” Dias told the Spurs website.
“When I got out of the operation, that’s actually when I got released from Tuks. So, I had to do a lot of rehab and everything, so by the time I was cleared to play, the season had already started… so, I was in a bit of a situation because the teams already had their players.”
“But I just needed to be playing football, so I just thought let me start somewhere. Then I was playing for Pele Pele FC, which is the ABC Motsepe team for Pirates.”
“I thought let me just get back into it slowly, but because they weren’t sure when the ABC league was going to start again, the coach decided maybe a loan would be best so I don’t miss out on more playing time.”
“But I was also playing in Johannesburg for the Orlando Pirates Fives team, and that’s where the connection also came out.”
Dias is a product of the SuperSport United academy, and as a teenager spent the second half of the 2013/14 season in Holland on loan at PEC Zwolle.
He moved to Tuks in 2015 where he played until his meniscus injury in 2019.
