Swallows FC head coach Brandon Truter was impressed with his side’s display in a match against Stellenbosch FC in Soweto.
Swallows were held to a 1-1 draw at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon in the DStv Premiership match.
Brakkies, as he is affectionately known, says his team showed some improvements and progress in the game after their disappointing results lately.
“Yeah, obviously at home, we were looking at the three points. But we had our own personal objectives with this game,” he told the club’s media department.
“You have to look at the opponent unbeaten, you have to look at us, our form at moment and the number of goals we conceded, so we set ourselves small targets in terms of the wanting to keep a clean sheet, unfortunately we couldn’t.
“Wanting to score a goal, which is a plus we did score from open play, and we created that as well.
“We had some good moments, and we had some moments where we could have done better as well. But in terms of ball rotation, in terms of destruction, I think we did well.
“We kept the opponent out, the only incident Jody had been to pick the ball out of the net except for that he was rather comfortable, or they didn’t threaten us that much as well.
“But it’s a new structure, it’s a new playing style. Meet some new personnel that also had some debuts. Jody, the young Khupe, Margeman.
“So it’s progress as positives within the negatives and negatives being at the draw, but it’s a point which we to be honest we haven’t picked up in a while.
“So it’s something to be happy about. Something not to get too overconfident about, but it’s progress. It’s a point it’s a step forward.”
