Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler was disappointed to walk away from Ellis Park without anything on Saturday, as his team lost 1-0 to Sekhukhune United in their DStv Premiership game.
It’s their second loss of the season, and it sees the MTN8 finalists sitting in 12th place on the log after six games, with just one victory.
Tinkler said it was a frustrating game, as despite creating many chances, they just couldn’t find the back of the net.
“I thought in the first half, we created the best chances, they purely looked to play on the counter, defending very, very deep,” Tinkler said after the game.
“What we done with the ball in the finals third, wasn’t good enough ,and I think we could have played another 180 minutes today and I don’t think we would have hit the back of the net.
“We had so many great, great chances to take the lead, or right at the depth to at least leave here with a point, but that didn’t happen. so frustrated. I think we’ve done everything we needed to do, on the ball going forward, just didn’t get the goal.
“And unfortunately, that’s how we are judged. We are judged could you score, did you lose, did you win? It’s as simple as that.
“Disappointed, feel for the boys, because you can see, they worked, they tried. They grew frustrated, especially that first half, we were getting into that final third with a lot of ease, and then we were trying to force, and then once or twice we got caught on the counter.
“The goal, it’s a shot, he’s not even looking to play across, he’s looking to have a shot and it ends up finding a player and they take the lead.
“Ja, so I think disappointing, we’ve got to take this one on the chin, and move on.”
