Royal AM president Shauwn Mkhize has told iDiski Times how much it meant to beat a club like Kaizer Chiefs when they recently thrashed Amakhosi 4-1.
Thwihli Thwahla, as they are affectionately known, had shocked Stuart Baxter’s men in a 4-1 win last month in a DStv premiership clash at FNB stadium.
In an exclusive interview with iDiski Times writer David Kappel, the businesswoman has confirmed that they were themselves surprised by the result and performances of their players.
“You know growing up I wasn’t even following soccer to be honest with you, but there were Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns, those were there the biggest teams,” she told iDiski Times.
“So for us, number one, it was quite a big stage for us to play with them. So us beating them, you know, the mandates and instructions are very clear to the boys, go there, have fun and enjoy football.
“And they surprised us, we are surprised with the results, and we are excited at the same time.
“I didn’t know about it but, JA, in any case, even for us beating Kaizer Chiefs is a big thing, one of the milestones that one will take a long period of time to forget about.”
