Williams – The Spark Is Ignited In Me Again
Ahead of their game against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, Ronwen Williams says is happy to be back in the SuperSport United team, and missing out on four games through injury has re-ignited a spark in him.
Williams returned in SuperSport’s last league game, a 1-0 win over Tshakhuma, but that match was two weeks ago, and he says it would have been nice to keep the momentum going.
The SuperSport captain was also included in Hugo Broos’s Bafana Bafana squad, released on the weekend.
However Williams says in a season where there have been so many back-to-back games, it was also good to get some time on the training pitch.
SuperSport are currently sixth in the DStv Premiership, while Sundowns are top, and a victory on Wednesday for the Brazilians would see them clinch their fourth consecutive league title.
“Obviously, we would have liked to keep the momentum going, had a good result our last game, but it gave us opportunity to fine tune some of the things that we were lacking in the past few games and obviously work on our weaknesses in our previous games,” Williams told the club’s media department.
“So, sometimes it’s nice to train, to get some minutes, you know, because when you have back to back games, you don’t have time to train in too much. But now we used this two week break to fine tune our strategy going forward, and how are we gonna finish, on a positive note.”
“Ja, I’m just happy to be back, obviously, I was disappointed in being out for a few weeks, but it gave me time to miss the game again, and bring back that spark, you know, because playing too many games, sometimes it just becomes, another day or another game. So, I missed the game when I was gone, and it ignited that spark in me again, and I’m just glad to be back and hopefully I can push in my team to to finish strong with the three remaining games.
