Zuma – Pirates Should Get Benni
Former Orlando Pirates striker Sibusiso Zuma says the Buccaneers should add Benni McCarthy to their technical team after Josef Zinnbauer left.
The German tactician resigned from his role as head coach last week, with Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi seemingly being trusted in a dual role even though the club has not made an official statement yet.
Zuma, though, has insisted that Pirates should add McCarthy into the mix because his experience will help the club to improve.
“I’m not saying Fadlu (Davids) and Mandla Ncikazi are not good coaches. I’ve seen when they’ve coached teams, the kind of football they’ve played (is) quality. Possession, they all about possession, defending well,” he told Kick Off’s Lorenz Kohler.
“But I strongly believe Pirates need Benni as well there. I’m thinking Mr Khoza needs to make a plan, get Benni there. Sundowns have three coaches, put Benni in with his experience.
“He’s going to help, big time. I’m not saying that these two are not going to do a good job but I think the experience of McCarthy will help Orlando Pirates.”
Zuma says he feels McCarthy would be the right man to bring the best out of the current players.
“Pirates have players on paper, they have a team on paper but I think Benni is going to get into the players’ minds, I think that’s the only thing that’s missing.”
Zuma also had an exclusive interview with iDiski Times this week, speaking about Luther Singh’s transfer to Copenhagen, his famous bicycle kick as well as his time at Orlando Pirates and Percy Tau’s move to Al Ahly.
