I Can’t Ask Mudau That – It’s An Emotional Game

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says he can’t ask Khuliso Mudau and any other player to start being wary of the flailing arm incident that led to a questionable penalty against Egypt. Broos feels the rules need to be re-looked into as Mudau, in his opinion, did not show any intent to hurt or strike Salah, but was rather an attempt to protect the ball while in possession. The Egypt superstar fell down inside the area, theatrically and eventually stepped up to score the resulting penalty, which proved the difference in the 1-0 victory and qualification to the last-16

Broos Responds To Mbule Criticism

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has responded to criticism on midfielder Sipho Mbule following first two matches at AFCON. Mbule started against Angola and had a quiet outing, with many feeling he was largely ineffective for much of the match.  He then came off the bench against Egypt, with the opponents reduced to 10 men and Bafana dominating possession while chasing the game, yet again not making a strong impact in terms of creativity and chance creation.  Broos said he knows Mbule well and believes the player is experienced enough to recognise when he has not performed at his best.
