Official: Nedbank Cup Final Venue Announced

The Premier Soccer League have confirmed which stadium will host the 2025 Nedbank Cup final next month. Last year’s final was hosted at Mbombela Stadium, while the 2023 edition was played at Loftus Versfeld. Orlando Pirates won both those editions and could complete their title hat-trick after booking their third successive final ticket. In the final they will meet Kaizer Chiefs after their dramatic win over Mamelodi Sundowns. This year’s final is scheduled for 10 May, and Chiefs were drawn as the home team. The final will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, and was confirmed on Sunday evening.

Official: Baxter Lands New Club

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter is the new Head Coach of Boavista in Portugal. Baxter, 71, takes over until the end of next season. However, while Boavista are currently in the top flight, Baxter may need a miracle to keep it that way, as they are currently bottom of the table with five games to play. Baxter has coached around the world, but this is his first job in Portugal since 1987. After leaving Chiefs, Baxter was Technical Director at Swedish club Helsingborgs, but left in 2023 after a period as interim manager.

New Group For SA U20 At AFCON

Raymond Mdaka’s U20 team will face different opposition than originally planned after the redraw of the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday. The tournament will take place in Egypt now, after the Ivory Coast withdrew as hosts at the last minute. Having originally been drawn to face the hosts, Morocco and Nigeria, South Africa will now only face Egypt, after being drawn in the five-team Group A. They will also face familiar opposition in COSAFA rival, Zambia, as well as Tanzania and Sierra Leone. The tournament kicks off on the 27th of April when Egypt host South Africa.

Kaizer Chiefs beat TS Galaxy on Sunday to return to the summit of the DStv Diski challenge league table.  Galaxy had lots of opportunities in the first half but failed to take them including an empty net miss from Seluleko Mahlangu.
