Bafana Star Writes History In Tunisia

Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana became the first South African to win the Tunisian league title after ES Tunis hammered Olympique Beja 5-0 on Sunday.

Mokwana, 25, came off the bench and scored his side’s fifth goal to secure their 19th win of the season.

Esperance climbed to 65 points from 29 games, four ahead of second-placed Monastir, who dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with ES Metlaoui.

ES Tunis win the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 for the 34th time – more than other side in the country.

Meanwhile, Mokwana becomes the first South African player to lift the league title in Tunisia after joining the club from Sekhukhune United ahead of the 2024/25 season.

It’s Mokwana’s second trophy in Tunisia after he also lifted the Super Cup earlier this year.
