Barker’s Simba Romps To Emphatic Win

South African tactician Steve Barker’s Simba SC made yet another statement to their title aspirations as they hammered Tanzania Prisons 4-0 in the Tanzanian Premier League on Sunday night.

The win sees The Reds of Msimbazi cut the points on leaders Young Africans to five after 22 matches.

It has already been a memorable past few days for Barker who secured his first trophy at the club since his shock move to the East African giants from Stellenbosch FC in December 2025.

Barker guided Simba to victory over bitter rivals Young Africans in the Muungano Cup final last month which followed after he also won two Coach of the Month accolades.

It was such a tight match which forced the tie into extra-time, as both teams couldn’t be separated inside 90 minutes before Barker’s side scored a late penalty goal from Selemani Mwalimu to win 1-0.

The win also halted Yanga’s dominance between the two sides, which was Simba’s first win over them in eight games outings, ultimately ending Yanga’s six-match winning run across all competitions.

Against 15th-placed Prisons in the league, Simba were in rampant mood as they raced to a comfortable 3-0 first half lead before completing the rout in the second period.

They went up 1-0 through Morice Abraham’s 28th minute strike before Clatous Chama added the second in the 42nd minute.

Selemani Mwalimu added the third in the 44th minute before former Stellies defender Ismael Toure made it 4-0 in the 63rd minute for the maximum points.
