Links Caps Off Season With European Qualification At AGF

South Africa international winger Gift Links capped off an impressive season with AGF Aarhus with qualification for the 2023/24 UEFA Conference League.

The 24-year-old fell somewhat out of favour last season after a change in formation and some injury problems but this season, he’s been an ever-present figure under Uwe Rosler.

After getting back to full fitness, Links has excelled in an unfamiliar left wing-back role, and after links with a return to the DStv Premiership in January, any talk of a return home as been quashed with the club now looking to tie him down on a new contract.

He’s featured 32 times for the Danish Superliga club, as they finished third ahead of Viborg in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season.

Having been 3-0 down with 10 men heading into half-time, they somehow managed to secure an incredible comeback with three goals in the final 25 minutes to secure one point which puts them in the second qualifying round for the Conference League next season.

Links was named Man of the Match after the six-goal thriller with another stellar display, which will undoubtedly attract the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos in the upcoming months ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
