Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana has paid tribute to his club Esperance de Tunis for the massive support they have thrown behind him after playing part in their Super Cup triumph on Sunday evening.
Despite completing a shock move to North Africa at the beginning of the season, which many criticized, his resilience, hard work and dedication to the course has since paid off after claiming his first silverware in the colours of ES Tunis.
The 24-year-old has been vital for Taraji this season and was instrumental in their CAF Champions League journey, scoring important goals and helping the team reach the quarterfinals.
On Sunday, Mokwana opened the scoring for Taraji in the 59th minute before Youcef Belaili rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute to seal a 2-0 victory over Stade Tunisien, for their seventh Super Cup title.
Speaking with the media, Mokwana explained how happy he is and what it means for them to be part of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in June.
“It’s great, it’s my first title in Tunisian football,” an excited Mokwana told the media after the match.
“I’m really excited. They encourage me, they encourage me to keep on doing well, that’s why I will keep on doing well.
