Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana winger Keagan Dolly is remaining patient for his next move amidst several clubs expressing interest in his services.
Dolly, 31, was surprisingly released by Chiefs despite initial talks over a potential extension during the course of last season.
Potentially his lack of game-time, with eight appearances in the 2023/24 campaign played its part in the decision-making of the club but he departed with career-best figures.
His 14 goals and 11 assists in 67 games trumped the 10 goals and 11 assists in 61 games he achieved at Mamelodi Sundowns earlier in his career before his lucrative switch to Montpellier.
But few could argue that the legacy of his career, when all is said and done, will be winning the CAF Champions League, the league and Telkom Knockout during his stint at Sundowns, with arguably one of the finest attacking trios alongside Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat.
Shortly after his Chiefs’ exit, terms were agreed with SuperSport United, before the club CEO Stan Mathews stated they could only take one between Dolly and former Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule, and they opted for the latter.
Dolly has since received enquiries from several other Premier Soccer League sides, and from abroad as he continues to train on his own in order to keep himself fit after recovering from a broken toe.
“Keagan Dolly has had some good interest, but we have not found the right opportunity that ticks all the boxes for him, but we are actively working on that, obviously we had agreed a deal in principle and he passed his medical to sign for one club in the window, so when unfortunately that was not completed at the final stage, we had to start again,” a representative of his agency Siyavuma Sports Group told iDiski Times.
“Keagz is a top professional, he’s ready to go and we are sure the right opportunity will present itself real soon, he is in great shape and jumping to get back on the training pitch.
“Contrary to what social media sometimes likes to say, Keagan’s data overall at KC was very good, especially in his first two seasons, goals and goal contributions unfortunately last season he was out initially with a knee injury, but then came back only to break his toe in a game, and unfortunately we all know you can’t play football with a broken toe.”
Dolly has been capped 23 times in the senior national team, scoring three goals with seven assists and his last appearance came in 2022, when they lost 5-0 to France in Lille.
