Former Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM striker Samir Nurkovic is still training with Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic, head coach Josef Zinnbauer confirmed to iDiski Times.
Nurkovic, 31, is currently a free agent after being released by Royal AM in October last year – even though he is still in a court battle with his former employers.
He then appeared at Cape Town City after the end of the 2022/23 season but the Citizens passed on the opportunity to bring him in and opted to sign Joaquim Cristovao Paciencia from GD Interclube.
Nurkovic has been with Raja for about two weeks, as previously reported by iDiski Times, and featured in their latest friendly against the Qatari side Al Sadd last week Friday.
“He is still in training with us and we will continue to monitor him,” Zinnbauer told iDiski Times.
“We are currently in preparations for the Arab Club Championship and he is still with us.”
Raja kick off their Arab Cup group stages kicks later today, when they will face Algerian champions CR Belouizdad at 15:00. They also have Pitso Mosimane’s Al Wahda and Kuwait SC in their group.
Zinnbauer recently joined Raja and also brought in Fadlu Davids as well as Darian Wilken as his assistant coaches, while he has also signed former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Haashim Domingo.
