Ncikazi On Deadline Day Transfers

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi says there’s enough quality at the club but they will always look to add new players if necessary.

Pirates have loaned out several players in the current mid-season window with wingers Gilberto and Katlego Otladisa perhaps the most prominent of the names.

There have been links with Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi but with Polokwane City issuing hands-off warnings, it appears those deals won’t materialise or even be entertained until the end of the current season.

Ncikazi has waved concerns there might be an issue for the rest of the season for a lack od depth, with Pirates competing in the league, CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup.

“We try and focus on what we have, we have enough quality within the club, as I said earlier, you will always look for something more but if there’s anything on the market that management and the coaches feel is necessary, we will add that,” he said.

“For fear of competition in the market, you don’t disclose such intentions because then you will have some competition that is unnecessary, so if it happens, it’s good for the team but we will wait and see.”

Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs for the first Soweto Derby of the season at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
