Former Swallows FC head coach Brandon Truter has broken his silence on his sacking by the Dude Birds.
Truter and his technical team were dismissed by Swallows after their 3-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs and has since been replaced by Dylan Kerr.
The club opted to sack Truter after 13 games without a win, during which they collected just six draws and only scored twice.
“Of course, we are in a results-driven industry. Of course, the results were hard to come by. Once it goes that way, you have to be mindful that you might be getting the axe,” he told Andile Ncube on Radio2000.
“Look, the team was playing well. I think you can look at the stats even the last game against Kaizer Chiefs, we dominated all stats of the game and still, we lost the game.
“But at the end of the day, goals win games and that’s what was the only thing missing at the moment. We played some captivating football, but in the final third we did not put the ball in the net.
“That was the downfall, that was the reason for my sacking as well. I don’t understand where the owners of the club are coming from, in terms of the industry, in terms of results. I do understand the situation.”
Despite his dismissal, Truter insisted that he had a great relationship with Swallows chairman David Mogashoa.
“The chairman David Mogashoa indicated in the media that I still had his backing,” he added. “He even mentioned that he would sell the club at one stage.
“Me and him, we have a very good relationship. I respect the man, I respect him so much and I want to thank him also for having faith in me for so long.
“But yeah, of course, the pressure from supporters, the things you read in the media and then the results game”
Swallows currently sit in 16th place on the log and have only collected eight points after 12 matches.
