Norodien Back In SA After DRC Stint

Former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town winger Riyaad Norodien is back in South Africa after a stint with Linafoot giants DC Motema Pembe.

The 26-year-old joined DCMP in October last year as he looked to rekindle the career that saw him drop down to the National First Division with Cape Town Spurs.

And after a decent start to life in the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, he’s said to have terminated his contract via mutual consent due to unpaid wages.

This publication understands he joined the club who were participating in the CAF Confederation Cup despite interest from Royal AM whilst he was still a free agent.

Norodien has now secured an assessment with DStv Premiership club Baroka, where he’s likely to sign for the club if his fitness levels are up to the required standard, iDiski Times can reveal.

The former South Africa U23 star will begin training with Bakgaga on Monday morning where he’ll be assessed by their technical team who are in search for attacking reinforcements.

Baroka have only scored 12 league goals in 18 games this season and currently in the relegation play-off spot one point off 14th placed Swallows – who have played a game more.
