Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has refused to throw in the towel in their Betway Premiership title race after they suffered a minor blow against Durban City.
The Buccaneers were left frustrated by the newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions as the tie ended in a 0-0 stalemate at the Orlando Amstel Arena last weekend.
This leaves Pirates in second position with match-day 30 to play this coming weekend against ORBIT College at a sold-out Mbombela Stadium.
Nothing but a win will witness the Sea Robbers claim their first league crown in 14 years, but a draw or defeat will see Mamelodi Sundowns defend their title for a ninth successive season.
Speaking to OP TV after the match, Sibisi maintained that they were still on course to achieve their target of delivering the title to the Bucs faithful.
“We’re still within our objective. We shouldn’t doubt, there’s no reason to doubt,” he said.
“I think the performance [against Durban City] showed that we wanted to win, unfortunately it was not enough for us.
“But you know, we go back we keep on working.
“We have final game against ORBIT. There’s no reason not to believe.
“We would’ve loved to end the season at home with three points. As I said, unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. We tried.
“It’s not through the lack of trying. The boys kept fighting until the very last whistle.
“So unfortunate for us, but we take the point and we move.”
